Using the RME Digiface USB is a breeze. First, connect it to your Windows or Mac computer via the USB 2.0 port. Thanks to the Plug and Play technology, it should be recognized right away. For audio input and output, you can use the optical ADAT/SPDIF ports or the 6.3 mm TRS jack for analog output.
When using the optical ports, remember that each port can be set to either ADAT or SPDIF. The inputs will automatically adapt to the signal format, but you can switch the outputs between the two. With TotalMix FX, you can freely use the analog output channels.
Here are some things to keep in mind. Make sure your computer meets the driver requirements. For Windows, it should be Windows 7, 8, or 10, and for Mac, OS X 10.6 or higher. Also, since it's bus - powered, ensure your USB port can provide enough power.
For maintenance, keep it in a clean and dry place. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. If you're not using it for a long time, store it properly. The included DIGICheck tool can be used to test and analyze the device regularly to ensure it's working at its best.
