The Rolls RM82 is a highly versatile eight-channel mixer that fits into a single rack space. It's perfect for a wide range of sound reinforcement needs, such as in board rooms, churches, or for expanding mixing consoles. When you have up to eight microphones that need to be mixed and space is tight, the RM82 is your go-to solution. Each of the eight channels comes with an XLR microphone input and a 1/4” unbalanced input. The 1/4” jacks can be reconfigured internally to serve as channel Inserts or Direct Outputs. Inserts are great for processing individual channel signals, while Direct Outputs simply take the signal from the channel. Every channel has individually switchable +48 VDC phantom power. The RCA Prefade (pre Master Level) Output can be connected to the RCA Aux Buss Input to cascade two RM82 units. It's also useful for recording and monitoring. The main output is a balanced male XLR jack, which can be internally jumpered for Line or Mic level. Key features include eight XLR microphone inputs, trim and tone controls, individually switchable +48 VDC phantom power, eight 1/4” unbalanced inputs that can be configured as Inserts or Direct Outputs, RCA Prefader Output for various uses, RCA Aux Buss Input for cascading or as a ninth unbalanced input, and selectable Mic or Line output level. Technical specifications cover input impedance, max input level, input connectors, outputs, max gain, tone control, phantom power, output level, output impedance, phase shift, max S/N ratio, THD, CMRR, size, and weight.

Using the Rolls RM82 is straightforward. First, connect your microphones to the XLR inputs or use the 1/4” unbalanced inputs for other devices. If you need to process individual channel signals, configure the 1/4” jacks as Inserts. For simple signal extraction, use them as Direct Outputs. Make sure to switch on the +48 VDC phantom power for microphones that require it. To cascade two RM82 units, connect the RCA Prefade Output to the RCA Aux Buss Input. You can also use the RCA Prefade Output for recording or monitoring. When it comes to the main output, choose the appropriate Line or Mic level by internally jumpering the balanced male XLR jack. Some things to keep in mind: Avoid overloading the inputs. Check the max input level for both Mic and Line. Make sure all connections are secure to prevent signal loss or interference. For maintenance, keep the mixer in a clean and dry environment. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth regularly. If you notice any issues, consult the technical specifications or contact customer support.
