Product Description

The Warm Audio WA273-EQ is a remarkable dual-channel British-style microphone preamp with EQ. For decades, the '73-style mic pre has set the tone for pop/rock records, and it remains the top choice among professional engineers. The Warm Audio 'WA73 Family' pays tribute to British audio history. The WA273-EQ meets vintage standards in design and performance, offering the unique and familiar tone of vintage '73-style preamps. After extensive R&D, reverse-engineering, and auditioning, this preamp was born. Key features include a dual-channel, Class A, '73-style British microphone preamp with EQ, UK-made Carnhill transformers, UK-made Blore Edwards EQ dual-concentric switch potentiometers, hand-wired and hand-assembled construction, 80dB of gain with a resistor-stepped gain switch, fully discrete circuitry, and a tone button to change input transformer impedance for different tones. Technical specifications cover polarity switch, 48V phantom power, low, mid, and high band boost/cut frequencies, additional high band frequency EQ points, a 4-position inductor-based hipass filter, XLR mic inputs, line level TRS input, TS send/receive insert jacks, XLR and TRS line level outputs, direct in and instrument input, output control, LED level indication, a frequency response of 20HZ - 20KHZ +/-.5 dB, 19' rack-mountability, and an internal IEC 115V/230V power inlet.

Using the Warm Audio WA273-EQ is quite straightforward. First, connect your microphone to the XLR mic inputs on the front or back of the unit. If you're using a condenser microphone, make sure to turn on the 46V phantom power. Adjust the gain using the resistor-stepped gain switch to get the right level. You can use the tone button to change the input transformer impedance and get different tones. The EQ controls allow you to boost or cut frequencies in the low, mid, and high bands according to your needs. The 4-position inductor-based hipass filter can be used to remove unwanted low frequencies. When it comes to outputs, you can use the XLR and TRS line level outputs to connect to your audio interface or other equipment. As for maintenance, keep the unit in a clean and dry place. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. If you need to clean it, use a soft, dry cloth. Also, make sure to turn off the power before making any connections or disconnections to prevent damage to the unit.
