Product Description
The Fiberplex FOI-5401-RT5B Isolator is an excellent solution for T1 DS-1 or ISDN PRI Interface. It offers complete electrical isolation for T1 communications, making it ideal for areas with high electrical noise or in RF shielded enclosures. The fiber optic cable used in this isolator is immune to interference from impulse noise, crosstalk, and EMI. It also enhances communication privacy as it doesn't radiate any emissions. For high-security applications, FiberPlex recommends the “R” units which have added filtering and shielding for RFI suppression. Moreover, fiber optic cable allows for much longer transmission distances compared to copper wiring. Traditional T1 cabling is limited to 6200ft (1.89km), but this isolator's multimode optics can extend the distance to 2km, and singlemode optics can reach up to 20km. A typical setup involves two FOI-5401 units at each end of the network, connected by a duplex fiber optic cable. Key features include a data rate of 1.544 Mbps, support for ISDN PRI services, 23B+D data passing transparently, 1310nm Singlemode ST optics, separately sold power options, and RFI suppression. Technical specifications cover power requirements (voltage range from 7 VDC to 32VDC, supply current of 600 mA), T1/E1 interface (data rate from 0.75 Mbps to 2.048 Mbps, line encoding of AMI/B8ZS, RJ-45 interface connector), and environmental conditions (storage temperature from -40 to 85 °C, operating temperature from 0 to 50 °C).
Using the Fiberplex FOI-5401-RT5B Isolator is straightforward. First, place one isolator at each end of your network and connect them with a duplex fiber optic cable. Make sure to choose the appropriate power option as they are sold separately. When it comes to power, the voltage should be within the range of 7 to 32VDC. As for the T1/E1 interface, the data rate can vary from 0.75 to 2.048 Mbps. Just connect your device using the RJ-45 connector. Regarding temperature, keep in mind that the isolator can be stored between -40 and 85 °C, but it should only be operated between 0 and 50 °C. To maintain the isolator, avoid exposing it to extreme conditions. Regularly check the fiber optic cable for any signs of damage. If you're using it in a high-security area, the “R” units with added filtering and shielding will help suppress RFI. Overall, this isolator provides great performance and long - distance transmission capabilities for your T1 or ISDN PRI communication needs.
