Product Description

The Fiberplex FOI - 5401 - L22 isolator is a top - notch solution for T1 DS - 1 or ISDN PRI interface. The FOI - 5401 and TD - 5401 offer full electrical isolation for T1 communications. Ideal for high - electrical - noise areas or inside/outside RF shielded enclosures. The fiber optic cable is immune to interference from impulse noise, crosstalk, or EMI. It also boosts communication privacy as it doesn't radiate emissions. For high - security needs, FiberPlex recommends “R” units with extra filtering and shielding for RFI suppression. Compared to copper wiring, fiber optic cable allows much longer transmission distances. Traditional T1 cabling maxes out at 6200ft (1.89km), but this unit's multimode optics can reach 2km, and single - mode optics can go up to 20km. A typical setup has two FOI - 5401 units at each end of the network, connected by a duplex fiber optic cable. Key features include a 1.544 Mbps data rate, support for ISDN PRI (PRA) services, 23B + D data transparent pass - through, 1310nm Multimode LC optics, and separately - sold power options. Technical specs: Power requires a voltage range of 7 - 32VDC (typical 9VDC) and 600 mA supply current. T1/E1 interface has a data rate of 0.75 - 2.048 Mbps (typical 1.544 Mbps), AMI/B8ZS line encoding, and an RJ - 45 connector. It can be stored at - 40 to 85 °C and operated at 0 to 50 °C.

Using the Fiberplex FOI - 5401 - L22 isolator is quite straightforward. First, place one unit at each end of your network and connect them with a duplex fiber optic cable. Make sure to choose the right power option as they are sold separately and connect it within the specified voltage range of 7 - 32VDC. When it comes to the T1/E1 interface, use the RJ - 45 connector for a proper connection. Keep in mind that the unit is designed to work in an operating temperature range of 0 to 50 °C, so avoid using it in extreme heat or cold. For storage, it can handle temperatures from - 40 to 85 °C. To maintain the isolator, keep it clean and free from dust. Check the fiber optic cable regularly for any signs of damage. If you're using it in a high - security environment, consider the “R” units as they offer better filtering and shielding for RFI suppression.
