The ESE HD-488E/SD is an advanced device for HD or SD Serial Digital Interface (SDI) video. It can read and generate Linear Time Code (LTC), Digital Vertical Interval Time Code (D-VITC), and RP-188 Time Code. This unit auto-detects HD and SD formats and accepts 4:2:2 (525 and 625 line) digital video signals in SD mode, along with multiple HD formats. The inserter mode lets you superimpose time, user bits, or up to thirty characters of text onto the video in three independent windows. It's an enhanced version of the HD-488/SD with new features like selectable color fonts, closed-caption insertion of Time Code, RP-188 Time Code functionality in both HD and SD modes, selectable onscreen date formats, and front-panel entry of user text data. Key features include dual LTC output, a USB setup interface, user-friendly control, time zone offset, an LCD setup/status display, seven selectable font colors, and a universal power supply (90 - 264 VAC).
Using the ESE HD-488E/SD is quite straightforward. First, make sure to connect it to a suitable power source. The unit supports a universal power supply from 90 - 264 VAC. When it comes to input, it can auto - detect HD and SD formats, so just connect your HD or SD SDI video source. You can use the inserter mode to add time, user bits, or text to your video. Simply select the information you want to display in the three independent windows on the screen. For setting up the unit, you can use the USB setup interface and the user - friendly control panel. The LCD display will show you the setup and status information. When it comes to time code, the unit can generate, read, and insert LTC, D - VITC, and RP - 188 Time Code. You can also select different font colors and onscreen date formats according to your preference. Just be careful when choosing between the ESE Time Code input and the IRIG input as they cannot be ordered together. For maintenance, keep the unit in a clean and dry environment. Regularly check the power supply and connections to ensure they are secure. If you have the GPS option, the RS - 232C output will provide useful information once per second.
