Product Description

The Fiberplex FOI-5401-T22 isolator is a game - changer for T1 DS - 1 or ISDN PRI interfaces. It offers full electrical isolation for T1 communications, making it ideal for areas with high electrical noise or inside/outside RF - shielded enclosures. The fiber optic cable used in this isolator is immune to impulse noise, crosstalk, and EMI, ensuring interference - free communication. Moreover, it enhances communication privacy as it doesn't emit any radiation. For high - security applications, FiberPlex suggests the “R” units which come with extra filtering and shielding to suppress RFI. Fiber optic cable also outperforms copper wiring in terms of transmission distance. Traditional T1 cabling is limited to 6200ft (1.89km), but this isolator can extend the distance to 2km with multimode optics and up to 20km with single - mode optics. A typical setup requires two FOI - 5401 units at each end of the network, connected by a duplex fiber optic cable. Key features include a 1.544 Mbps data rate, support for ISDN PRI services, transparent 23B + D data passing, 1310nm Multimode ST optics, and power options sold separately. Technical specs cover a voltage range of 7 - 32VDC, a supply current of 600 mA, a T1/E1 data rate of 0.75 - 2.048 Mbps, AMI/B8ZS line encoding, an RJ - 45 interface connector, storage temperature from - 40 to 85 °C, and an operating temperature from 0 to 50 °C.

Using the Fiberplex FOI - 5401 - T22 isolator is straightforward. First, place one isolator at each end of your network and connect them with a duplex fiber optic cable. Make sure to choose the appropriate power option according to your needs, as they are sold separately. When it comes to operation, keep in mind that the unit can work in a temperature range of 0 to 50 °C, so avoid using it in extremely hot or cold environments. For storage, it can handle temperatures from - 40 to 85 °C. Also, check the voltage range of 7 - 32VDC and the supply current of 600 mA to ensure proper power supply. As for maintenance, keep the unit clean and free from dust. Periodically inspect the fiber optic cable for any signs of damage. If you are using it for high - security applications, consider the “R” units which have additional features for RFI suppression.
