Product Description

The Thor Satellite L-Band RF Over Fiber Transmitter and Receiver Kit is a game - changer for transporting RF satellite signals in the L - Band. Instead of using coaxial cables with a limited range of just a few hundred feet, this kit uses optical fibers to extend the signal range up to over 50 miles. Fiber optic cables are smaller and more manageable than traditional copper coax. This kit also provides optional 13/18V LNB power and Automatic Gain Control (AGC) to manage the RF input level. It's useful in various applications like transporting signals from a remote satellite farm to a broadcaster's headend, uplink and downlink operations, and DBS services. Thor even offers CWDM multiplexing solutions to transport up to 8 distinct L - Band signals over a single fiber, and multicasting solutions via optical coupling. Custom solutions are available. Key features include a compact L - Band satellite over fiber kit available in other wavelengths, a wideband RF response from 50 - 3000 MHz with large bandwidth, and the ability to provide 13 or 18 VDC power over coax to satellite LNBs and antennas. Technical specs: wavelength response 850 - 1610nm, optical sensitivity - 9 dBm, SC/APC fiber connector, Type - F 75 Ohm RF connector, 12 VDC power input, 20W power rating, and an operating temperature range of - 5 - 65 C. The kit includes an optical transmitter, an optical receiver, 2 x US power cables, and a user manual.

Using this Thor Satellite L - Band RF Over Fiber Transmitter and Receiver Kit is straightforward. First, connect the antenna to the transmitter using the provided Type - F 75 Ohm RF connector. Then, connect the transmitter to the optical fiber using the SC/APC fiber connector. On the other end, connect the optical fiber to the receiver with the same fiber connector, and then connect the receiver to your satellite receiver. Make sure to plug in the 12 VDC power input using the US power cables. When using, be aware that the operating temperature range is - 5 - 65 C. Avoid using it in extremely hot or cold environments. For maintenance, keep the connectors clean. If there are any signs of dust or debris, gently clean them with a soft, dry cloth. Check the power cables regularly for any signs of wear. If you need custom solutions or have specific L - Band over fiber needs, don't hesitate to contact Thor.
